Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center

Rice University is located at 6100 Main Street in Houston, Texas. Just three miles from downtown Houston, our 300-acre campus is part of the Museum District and across the street from Hermann Park and the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. We service and are close to West University, Bellaire, Meyerland, and River Oaks.

Parking 

Parking Pass

Rice Aquatics members are able to purchase three types of parking permits:

West Lot 3 is adjacent to the fields by the pool while Greenbriar Lot is on the other side of the stadium. The Early Bird/Late Bird passes have certain available hours, while the Anytime pass is valid at any time. Parking permits are available in the central garage offices across the street from the recreation center. Your name goes to the parking services and you may also present your Rice ID. There is a $30 proxy card purchase at the time of registration for a parking pass.

By Credit Card (All Surface Lots)

Machines at the entrance gates will instruct the driver to insert a credit card (American Express, VISA, MasterCard or Discover). When the gate opens and the vehicle enters, the computer's "parking meter" begins. Upon leaving, the visitor drives to the exit gate and inserts the same credit card. It is very important to use the same credit card used at entry while exiting, otherwise the computer will not recognize the card. The gate will open within a few seconds, at which time the meter stops. The computer calculates the time, checks for fee approval and automatically bills the credit card. IMPORTANT - if you are issued a validation, please insert it FIRST into the machine, it will keep the validation. Then, insert the credit card used at the entry and the gate will open.
